Ysgol Gyfun Gwynllyw will be hosting the preliminary rounds of the Eisteddfod Yr Urdd.
There will be between 200 and 300 children attending our school to compete for their place in Eisteddfod Yr Urdd on 18th March, 2017. Come and help us out, what better way to get a sneak preview of the Eisteddfod? From 8am - 2.30pm approximately, supported by their parents, friends and families, these children will be in for a long day. We'll need help making and selling toast, sandwiches, crisps and snacks, tea, coffee and cold drinks. See the menu here Last year, the PTA provided the refreshments for these 9 Gwent schools that took part, and it's anticipated there will be more participants this year, as the Eisteddfod is located closer in South Wales than it was last year. If you are able to help at all with refreshments for any length of time - an hour, a morning or afternoon, or the whole day, please contact us. We'll also need some people to sell Rotary Club raffle tickets (available now) on the day - Perhaps you are able to do this? Thank you for supporting Cyfeillion Gwynllyw. In addition to these, a large number of reference books and further classics have been obtained - from collections I have made - they've been donated by J.Morgan of Varteg and a retired librarian by the name of Corinne. We have a small amount of money remaining that was offered to Yr Hafan to spend on books - they are currently taking requests/recommendations from the various education departments - for any specific book requirements, we'll update you when these purchases have been completed. I've donated a number of titles myself, collected over the years of learning Welsh. If you'd like to donate to the library - please get in touch via Twitter, Facebook or e-mailing us.
