Earlier in March, during a "Communities Together" session at Bron Afon Community Housing, the Environmental Teamleader, Steve Caddy, offered to support the upcoming activities afternoon by providing a "Grow Wild" wildflower planting kit to the PTA, which comprised plant labels, seeds and a guide to planting. Hopefully, over the coming weeks, you'll be able to see some of the wildflowers pictured below flourishing in the school grounds.
Pupils engaged in various activities on 7th April, including planting some free "Seeds for Bees" obtained for the PTA from 38 Degrees, who actively campaign about almost everything, including promotion of wildlife.
Just Bee Drinks - the company that recently featured on Dragons Den allowed me to purchase a box of 50 packets of seeds at a very generous discount. I donated these to the school for planting on the activities afternoon. In addition to the wildflowers, the PTA recently received 960 sunflower seeds (one for every child in the school) from The-big-sunflower-project, which is an initiative using sunflowers to raise awareness of a rare neuromuscular condition.
