A recent survey by PTA UK, the national charity which supports parent associations in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and of which Ysgol Gyfun Gwynllyw's PTA "Cyfeillion Gwynllyw" is a member, found that their members as a whole spend three million hours a year volunteering their time in schools nationwide. Based on the minimum wage, this is the equivalent of £20 million a year in time being donated to schools.
The research carried out in October 2016 also showed that as a group, PTA UK members raised over £99 million through fundraising initiatives which goes directly back into schools. Parents at Ysgol Gyfun Gwynllyw have volunteered their time on the school parent and teacher association (PTA) by being actively involved in building the school community, supporting teaching, and holding events that raise money to pay for school improvements and new equipment for local children.
